When NOT to network...

One of the ways you grow your business is finding more prospects. So, go where the prospects are. And during the holidays, find Christmas shoppers! So go hang out at the mall, walk through mall parking lots, leave brochures on cars in mall parking lots. During the holidays - those places are just packed!
And the fun part about this strategy is some of the colorful language you hear when you are chasing someone through the food court. Oh, the stories I could tell...

Have a great holiday!

Just Who Is Biff Manly?

By now, many of you are wondering about Biff. Just who is this guy I see on Twitter everyday? And why is he dispensing with all that crap marketing advice?

He is trying to teach you. By showing you what NOT to do. Biff is the anti-marketing hero. And in observing his marketing misadventures - you might just see a little of yourself or your business in his mistakes.

That's OK. That's the first step. Biff wants to educate through humor. And humor is funny when it is something you can identify with.

So, what's the best thing you can do for your fellow business and marketing practitioners? Comment about marketing mistakes that you've made - and what you learned from it. Nothing teaches better than storytelling...

Want Biff's Outlandish Marketing Tips?

If you do, then there are only two places to find them. This blog, and by following Biff on Twitter! You can follow him here: http://twitter.com/biffmanly

Biff Says Give Your Products Away!

I have an easy solution to sell more products. Cut costs! Yeah, it's that simple. It isn't rocket science. If your price is lower than your competitor, you will get the sale. Profits schmofits. For me, it's all about meeting quota. I am not worried about profits - that's for management to agonize over.
And all that talk about building value so that prospects will be willing to pay a premium for your services? Crap. Total crap.
Good luck, and good selling!

NOVEMBER 2008

If your goals is to increase profits, then sell your customers anything you can get your hands on. You don't need to worry about making sure that the products you sell actually help your customer - heavens no. Just sell them anything. Most marketing consultants will tell you that when you cross sell, you should sell related products that further "serve" your customers - and help them even more. Phooey, I say.

OCTOBER 2008

I firmly believe that once you bag a client, you don't really need to take any steps to keep them coming back. They're yours. Forever.

Oh sure, we always do those "Loyalty" programs, but we don't really mean it. Once you've become a customer, it is NOT really necessary to exceed your expectations any more to keep you coming back.

You're mine!

APRIL 2008

You know, people always tell me that the customer is always right. Except when they are wrong. Right? Well anyway, I am just saying that I think I can do a much better job building customer loyalty by doing NOTHING to generate customer delight. If they have bought from me before, they will be a customer for life. I think. I don't even have to exceed their expectations to keep 'em coming back. The consumer has no other options, and even if I argue with my customers and take them for granted, they will keep on buying from me! -Biff

MARCH 2008

The funny thing is, I am the expert. I know it all. NOT - the silly customer. The customer really has no impact on what I do, marketing genius that I am.

While the customer may want to ask questions, and provide inputs, I already know what is important to them, so he or she doesn't really have anything to contribute...
